  1. Are the people behind "No BTS 66" also supporters of public transport?. Which consumes large amounts of electricity!! Very hipocritical don't you think.

  2. This fight is about an agreement that was reached between the community, the council and the power station. This agreement was for a sensitive design and construction that met the requirements of residents and the environment. It also adhered to the building overlay. All this was suddenly overturned by VCAT to favour a substantial power station to be built in residential land right next to an environmentally sensitive area - the Merri Creek. This is not hypocritical (note the spelling) but a fair and reasonable fight. This is a fight about one site, one station and a process that is far from democratic. So Mr TallH - get your facts straight!

  3. Weedance. You should get your own facts straight. VCAT overturned nothing, the state government did.
The "facts" are that the station has been at that site for 70 years and the current site is ugly. and now all of a sudden because some people don't like the plan to upgrade it they are taking the opportunity to say it should not be there at all. um, like, it was already there!! And has been there for far longer than any of us have lived in the neighbourhood. And you are the first person I have heard talk about any "agreement" between anyone about the design that has been changed as a result of the government stepping in (which is no doubt what Labour would have done had they not lost the election). it is the same "sensitive" design the council rejected. If you are really interested in the "facts", have a look at the designs that were submitted to council as part of the planning permit application late last year. I have, and I think the upgrade will be better for the environment and it will certainly look a hell of a lot better than the mess that's there now. And might i add, having spoken to a number of people at the council, the planning officers at Moreland actually supported and recommended the upgrade only to have the councillors make a political decision to reject their own planners' recommendations. So much for the "democratic" process eh? Councillors short changing their own constituents for their own political purposes me thinks.
